I’m Kristin, and I am a storyteller.
I write about sustainability for Cracked & Golden. That means exploring big and small ways we can change our habits and take better care of our planet, from backyard composting to buying an electric car. My children deserve that. All of our children deserve that.
I started writing stories in a red spiral notebook in second grade. By year’s end, it included little missives on everything from Election Night 1988 to the bully on the school bus. I learned that I could process what was going on in my life and around the world by telling stories.
I never stopped.
I spent more than 15 years as a journalist finding stories in living rooms, courtrooms, churches, prison cells and military bases as far-flung as Afghanistan for publications that included the Pulitzer Prize-winning Virginian Pilot and Military Times.
I learned that our stories set us apart. I learned that they also bring us together.
“Storytelling,” said author Robert McKee, “is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today.”
That’s why I am here.
